Liepaja Port cargo turnover decreased by 34.1% in January-October

Liepaja Port handled 3,965,499 tons of cargo in January-October 2013, a 34.1% decrease on the respective period in 2012, Liepaja Special Economic Zone public relations specialist Liga Ratniece-Kadege informed LETA.

The port handled 2,181,200 tons of bulk cargo, 1,436,100 tons of general cargo and 162,000 tons of liquid cargo in the first ten months of 2013. Bulk cargo constituted the largest share of the port's cargo turnover in January-October 2013 – 55%, followed by general cargo – 36%, and liquid cargo – 9%.

Liepaja Port serviced 1,082 ships and 37,022 passengers in January-October 2013.

In October, Liepaja Port handled 514,400 tons of cargo, including 358,900 tons of bulk cargo (69.8%), 126,100 tons of general cargo (24.5%) and 29,400 tons of liquid cargo (6%). The port also serviced 103 ships and 3,916 passengers.
